Maths Fun on the Whiteboard Table

In Maths, we have been using our new whiteboard table to help us solve maths problems.
Here we are solving the problem:
Mrs Parore is hanging out her towels to dry. She puts 2 pegs on each towel. If she has 4 towels, how many pegs will she need?

We drew the towels and used counters to represent the pegs. We used a strategy called repeated addition to solve the problem.
As you can see 2+2+2+2=8.
We can also write this as a multiplication equation 2 x 4 = 8
It's fun to draw on the table because we know we can rub it off!

  1. Hi Room 5! I like the way you've explained the strategies you used. I remember when I learned this strategy. Have you checked the sentences at the top because 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 8 not 4?

  3. Kia ora team Rima,
I can see how much you are concentrating in the photos! Well done for using your whiteboard tables so well to learn math strategies. I like how you have drawn pictures of the towels and used the counters to represent the pegs. It makes it very easy to visualise as you count. Do you enjoy using the whiteboard table for math? Does it help you with your learning to draw pictures and use counters? Thanks for sharing.
