Term 2!

Welcome back to Room 5 (Rima) at Wesley Primary School. This term our Inquiry is 'The Shape of our Landscape. We will be learning about the land and how it is formed and reformed. We are also reading Maori Myths and Legends that tell how Aotearoa was formed and the meaning behind some New Zealand place names. This is what New Zealand looks like from space. Can you see some land formations?

After looking at some videos of New Zealand's landscapes we went to the sandpit to create our own landforms. We made mountains, volcanoes, hills, and valleys and added water to make lakes, rivers and waterfalls. We were surprised to see how the water changed our formations.

Next week we are visiting the Auckland Museum to see the volcano exhibit!

  2. Hi my name is Latoia I go to blaketown school I liked the way that you build your sandcastle I think it was cool and it was a nice sunny day there. I am happy that you are going to Auckland I hope it is going to be fun and I thought you could decorate it with shells or you could write a name for it and make it tall like a real castle. You could also put windows and a door with a motor.
When did you build the sandcastle? I like building sandcastles From Latoia
